We just got back from a packed trip to New York. We went to the Empire State bldg., Ground Zero, Macy's, Harold's Square, Wall St., Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Central Park, Times Square, Grand Central Station, Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill, SoHo, Littly Italy, Greenwich Village, Trinity Church, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockerfeller Center and I am sure more places that I forgot about. Oh, we also made a trip to Queens!! Living so far away from home we are always expected to visit family so we decided while in Alabama we were going to go somewhere we wanted to vacation...NEW YORK!! It was a short trip but well worth it, one of Mike's friends from college lives in Queens so we were able to visit his family as well.

We also had PJ dedicated a couple of Sunday's ago but I only have a DVD of it!!

What a great Valentine's Day!! We spent the day out and about in Mililani at Just Tacos, Starbucks, The movies (He's just not that into you), and I got a mani/pedi.

We also bought our ticket to come home and I am excited to say we will be back March 2nd!!!

Ace of Cakes, June and Mike's Work

Ok, so I have been really busy this past week and haven't had a chance to do any blogging. What have we been doing you ask? Well Mike's auntie June came to visit for the week and we really enjoyed having her meet Parker, I mostly enjoyed taking a shower that lasted longer than 5 minutes.
We went to the airfield where Mike works to look at the helicopters and pose for some pictures with the aircraft.
For my birthday on the 30th we went to our favorite Italian restaurant, Assaggio's to eat and June made me a birthday cake. Mike bought me a beautiful necklace with three turtles to represent our new family of three...pics to soon follow.

June, Parker and myself had the honor of meeting the Ace of Cakes crew last Thursday at the Tropics on post. They were on the Island making a cake for Lost and visited the military base to make a Blackhawk cake for the Army. We met Duff and the crew when we got autographs and pictures, we also got to eat some of the cake.

My wonderful friend Jeannie and my darling husband Mike (mostly Jeannie) threw me and Danny (Jeannie's husband) a birthday party last weekend. Jeannie had decorated her house with pictures of me and Danny all over and we all played Rock Band and Partini.

Anniversary

Our anniversary was the 7th of January and we celebrated with a low key, relaxing night at home. I must say it was pretty romantic, well as romantic as it could be with a 6 week old in the house. Mike brought home roses and a balloon for me and we had dinner while watching top chef. For those of you who don't know Mike will be leaving for Iraq in September and will therefore miss our next anniversary. I try to not think about all of the holidays we won't celebrate together while he is gone but focus on him being with us now. I find that it is really hard to just enjoy each special occasion and not think about that he won't be here next year for it. I feel as if sometimes I get so caught up in the fact that he will be gone that I end up not fully enjoying the time we have together; so, my question is do we ever really just enjoy each day and live it to its fullest, or are we constantly living in the past or focusing on what the future brings?

A Journal for Jordan

The Reading Wahines, my book club chose to read A Journal for Jordan this month. The book is a true story about a soldier in Iraq who keeps a journal for his son. We had posted about us reading the book on our blog http://thereadingwahinesbookclub.blogspot.com/ and the author Dana Canedy made a comment wanting us to let her know what we thought of the book. I couldn't believe that she actually found us and took the time to comment and post on her blog about us. Well I know Christmas is over but I just found a website that I thought those of you with kids might be interested in for next year. The site allows you to upload a picture of your Christmas tree and insert a picture of Santa putting presents under the tree. I think this is a great idea to show your kids that Santa is real and really put the presents under the tree. It also says they plan on launching a website for the tooth fairy and Easter bunny, so keep a watch out for those.

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas here in Hawaii. I must say it was a little hard being away from home this year but luckily my mother was here to celebrate with us and having PJ made it all worth it. I missed our annual trips to Colorado, Alabama and Missouri and all the cold weather that goes with visiting during December. However, it was a lot less stressful on us and Mike and I were able to exchange our gifts on Christmas morning rather than before we left for the mainland like all the previous years. We have certainly had a blessed 2008 and can't wait to see what 2009 has in store!! Oh, I forgot to mention my wonderful husband gave me an awesome new camera to take pictures of PJ with and a coach purse for Christmas. We hope all of you had a great Christmas and we wish you all the happiness in 2009!!

Blackhawk spouse flights and Christmas Party

I had the opportunity to take my first ride in a Blackhawk helicopter last week. It is a really big deal because no other battalion in the Army still does spouse flights due to the cost to operate a helicopter and for liability reasons. I really enjoyed the flight and know why Mike loves his job so much. It was really scary to begin with because they leave the doors open during the flight and I happened to be in the outside seat. After the spouse flights we went to Mike's work Christmas party where PJ had his first picture made with santa in front of the blackhawk, he was a really good boy for santa.

Getting ready for Christmas

We are so excited about having a little one to celebrate Christmas with this year, we know that it will only get more exciting with every year. We put up our Christmas tree after Thanksgiving and helped PJ hang his first ornament on the tree, it is a honu aka a turtle to represent his birth in Hawaii. We also hung up our ornament together that marks our wedding date. Last weekend we spent the afternoon making pizzelles, pizzelles are an Italian cookie that is traditionally made for special occasions such as Christmas. This was our first time making pizzelles and I must say they tasted wonderful.

We have so much to be thankful for this holiday season with the arrival of our little bundle of joy. We are adjusting to being a family of three and enjoying every minute of being together. Parker was 7 pounds 13 ounces and 19 inches long, he has my color hair and dark greenish gray eyes. I was induced at 11:00 am monday morning and he was born at 8:17 am tuesday morning, November 25th. We had a long and stressful labor and delivery but thankfully God was watching over us and we are all doing great now. We were able to make it home from the hospital just in time to enjoy Thanksgiving as a family, thankfully my mom was here to cook for us. Thank you to all of your thoughts and prayers and we can't wait for all of you to be a part of PJ's life. I have attached a few pictures and will certainly post more soon.

Mike's wonderful Auntie June had us a web-cam baby shower last Sunday. It is so cool what you can do with with technology. It was really nice to be able to see everyone over the computer and for them to be a part of such a special time in our lives.

Shark Adventure and Hilton Hawaiian

Mike and I went on a shark adventure tour on the North Shore about a year ago and we finally got the pictures developed, they take you out, drop you in a shark cage and bait up the sharks. The first thing I thought yesterday when I saw the pictures was look at how skinny I was!! The sharks really didn't pay us any attention and just swam around the cage. The only issue we had were that the waves were crazy that day and Mike and I both got sea sick and bruises on our arms and legs from being knocked around in the cage.

Mike and I also had the pleasure back in April to attend a Marriage conference sponsored by the Army at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. Here a few pictures of the view from our room, you can see Waikiki beach and Diamond Head in the background. I am also posting a picture of some penguins to prove that we have them in Hawaii. If you are planning to visit Hawaii and want to stay downtown and be in the middle of everything this is certainly the place to be.

This is a picture of my good friend Christa and I at a Company Hail and Farewell Sunday. We actually have the same due date and we are making bets on who is going to have the baby first. This is her second boy so I am betting that she will be before me even though I am more than ready to go into labor tomorrow. Being pregnant is an awesome experience however I am ready to have my body my own again.

Ko Olina Weekend Getaway

My wonderful husband decided that I needed some pampering and relaxation before the baby decides to join us so he planned a trip to Ko Olina this weekend. He arranged for me to have a maternity massage and a pedicure at the Ihilani Spa and then we had dinner at Azul. It was such a nice change and the rooms we stayed in were beautiful.

Shower for Angela at The Willows

Sunday night I went to a Bridal Shower for Angela at The Willows. This place is so beautiful, they have a traditional Hawaiian buffet with wonderful scenery. It is all open air dining surrounded by beautiful, tropical plants and waterfalls. This would be a great place to enjoy a champagne brunch one Sunday.

This is an Egyptian, Mediterranean restaurant downtown that has some amazing food, they also have belly dancers that perform at 7:30 and 8:30 nightly. I would totally recommend this place!!

Since our husbands were away we had a Girls Night out last weekend at Senor Frogs downtown. I love this place, it is so much fun for kids of all ages.

4th of July and Bayfest

4th of July weekend we went to Bayfest which is at K-bay one of the prettiest places on the Island. It is a weekend event that has rides, concerts and fireworks every night. I was most excited about getting a funnel cake, you can't get good fried foods like that here all of the time. The night we went 3 Doors Down played, they did an awesome job. I didn't realize they were from the south until they started talking, it made me really miss home. I also wasn't aware of how much they support our military which has become very important to me since being "married to the military".

Mike's Birthday was last Wednesday and we celebrated by going out to dinner and enjoying a cake that I took up to work for him. He wanted a new grill for his birthday and I am so glad that I got him one because I haven't had to cook in forever. I should have bought him one a long time ago. He also took all of his birthday money from everyone and bought a PSP and golf game to take with him to NTC.

The following pictures are of some bedding sets that I picked out. The last two are my favorites but Mike doesn't like either one that much so I have picked out some others I could deal with. I am sure that the helicopter one is his favorite. Let me know what all of you think.

We have picked out a name, I let Mike name him because he is always telling me that everything I like is too girly or that I am going to make him a sissy. His name is going to be Parker Jaymeson Parreco, I don't want him to be called Jayme or James so we are going to call him Parker or P.J.

Baby Boy!!

It is official!! We are having a little Boy!! I am a little scared and still cannot believe that it is a boy, I just don't have any experience with little boys. Mike couldn't be happier, I don't think he has stopped smiling. He says it wouldn't have matter to him but I think he was secretly hoping for a boy!!

Ok so most of you know that I am pregnant. Sorry I haven't posted anything lately but we have been really busy, and I have been a little tired. We went to the Incubus concert, Kokua festival (Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews concert), Went out to the Pearl for Jeannie's Birthday, Celebrated Lynn's Birthday, went to the sandbar and K-bay (which we have to do again soon), I went home for a couple of weeks (I am ready to go back for another visit already), and Mike went to the big Island for some training. Wow that was a lot. Oh, also we have been rearranging our house to make room for the new baby. We are also very excited for our friends Lily and Raul who welcomed a new addition, Mason to the family.
I am due November 10, 2008 and we couldn't be more excited, although I must say it took some getting use. We are going for our 20 week ultrasound Monday to find out the sex of the baby. We are so excited we can hardly wait. I of course think it is a girl but I will be happy either way. We have bought our crib and furniture for the baby's room. My parents gift was a glider and ottoman which will be a blessing on those long nights. Mike's parents gave us the travel car seat and stroller set which will be a big help. I have not posted any pregnancy pictures yet but I promise I will within the next week.
